Lincoln-based environmental consultancy Delta-Simons has demonstrated its support of renewable energy by investing in a part-community owned wind farm at Deeping St Nicholas.
Two of the eight 2MW RePower wind turbines at the south Lincolnshire wind farm are owned by Fenland Green Power Co-operative, set up to offer community ownership of the turbines, which will produce enough electricity to power 2,100 homes.
Gareth Pickles, Managing Director, Delta-Simons explained, “Via our Shining Earth™ division we provide a range of services which help businesses to develop and deliver their own corporate responsibility and sustainability objectives. Investing in renewable energy, specifically the Fenland Green Power Co-operative, gives us the chance to lead by example.”
The 100 metre tall turbines became operational in May 2006 and, as a source of renewable energy, will avoid the release of carbon dioxide, the main contributor to global warming and climate change.
