Environment, Health, Safety and Energy (EHS&E) experts from Delta-Simons have helped Sun Microsystems to collect two prestigious awards.
The Hart Healthy Workplace Award Scheme 2008, run in partnership by Hart District Council, North Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Hampshire Primary Care Trust aims to promote health and wellbeing in Hart through formal recognition of organisations that are proactively working to improve the health of their employees.
Delta-Simons’ Chris Hinchcliffe, Senior EHS&E Consultant, and Pauline Bettridge, EHS Specialist, developed documentation for Sun Microsystems enabling it to demonstrate its commitment to health and safety legal compliance. They also collated information on Sun health initiatives on physical activity, employee assistance, stress, smoking and healthy eating.
As a result, Sun Microsystems received the Gold Award for its significant investment in the health and wellbeing of its employees, as well as the Award for Outstanding Achievement, as Chris explains, “By working as part of Sun Microsystems’ team, we were able to see first-hand exactly where we could support their drive towards improving employee health and wellbeing.
“Poor health and safety management can cost a considerable amount of time and money. We have been able to help Sun Microsystems to focus on its employees and introduce a comprehensive environment, health and safety policy to sit alongside the various other healthy workplace initiatives it has introduced.”
Heather Garrett, HR Director, Sun Microsystems UK, adds, “We could not have done this without the expertise and support of Chris and Pauline. We put a great deal of effort into our healthy workplace initiatives and we’ve come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Winning the Hart Gold Award was recognition of this and picking up the Award for Outstanding Achievement was the icing on the cake for us.”
