Strategic Partners
The Woodland Trust
In 2008 Shining Earth™ established a unique partnership with the Woodland Trust allowing it to offer the Trust’s carbon sequestration product known as ‘Woodland Carbon’ to its own customers.
The ground-breaking relationship with the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity means that Shining Earth™ can provide a carbon sequestration mechanism for clients that specifically want to compensate for their carbon emissions by planting trees in the UK.
Increasing the use of renewable sources of energy and being more energy efficient are vital steps we all need to take. Being able to equalise the balance of remaining emissions through the Woodland Trust means that companies can work towards becoming carbon neutral and mitigate their contribution to the causes of climate change and help nature conservation and habitat creation too.
Our customers
Shining Earth™ work with companies who want to improve their environmental and business performance in harmony. We will only sell the Trust’s ‘Woodland Carbon’ product to companies who can demonstrate a commitment to reducing their emissions and their overall environmental impact.
In addition to the Woodland Trust carbon product, Shining Earth™ can also offset carbon emissions in conjunction with our other industry leading partners, including The CarbonNeutral Company.
We provide this carbon management as a ‘not for profit’ service to our customers and, by combining small offset volumes together, we are able to combine forces and leverage our bulk buying power to keep offsetting costs down. This allows our clients to take advantage of our auditable portfolio of offsetting schemes worldwide and do their bit for the environment and the green credentials of their companies.
Since establishing the partnership Shining Earth™ has contributed funds resulting in the planting new woodland of approximately 5,000 trees. A small additional charge is made for each tonne offset; half of which is placed in a trust fund to support volunteer led socio-environmental community projects, the other half contributes towards administration costs.
"We are absolutely delighted to have established this relationship with the Woodland Trust. Through this relationship we can provide our customers, and a wider corporate audience, the UK tree planting carbon sequestration route they want, whilst at the same time being able to give them the confidence about the quality of the scheme and permanence of the new woodland – after all, planting new trees and looking after existing stock is what the Trust is all about."
