Sustainability fact
Landfill Sites

When organic wastes, such as leaves, grass clippings, food waste, and paper are recycled, we reduce the generation of methane gas in landfills. Second only to fossil-fuel combustion, landfills are a leading source of greenhouse gases. Every tonne of biodegradable waste produces 300-500 cubic metres of landfill gas [source: Waste Treatment and Disposal - P T Williams 1998, pp. 240]. Since December 2006 Delta-Simons have composted approximately 96kg of green waste. Landfill sites released a significant percentage of the UK's methane emissions. For all the details, visit the Defra webpage on UK Emissions of Greenhouse Gases

People

Delta-Simons is made up of staff from across a number of disciplines and business sectors each a specialist in their chosen field. As the business has grown we have sought to hire only the best candidates for identified roles and encourage internal staff development and career progression. Delta-Simons is proud of its staff and colleagues and works hard to maintain a strong culture of support, openness and honesty within the company. In consultancy it is clear that the strength of the business and its performance is inextricably linked to the quality of its staff and their stimulation and satisfaction in the workplace. Every year we make a significant investment in the training and professional development of our staff and have found this to be repaid many times over demonstrated through exceptional staff loyalty and very low staff turnover rates resulting in increased business efficiency and overall effectiveness. In short, we like working with each other and we like our work to be fun.
