Delta-Simons recognises that there is a shift towards home working becoming more of the norm, with many employees now working remotely. As such, the demand for virtual assessments is increasing, to ensure employees are set up ergonomically at home. Whilst remote support will not necessarily replace in-person assessments, offering virtual assessments enables a flexible and cost-effective support to be provided.

The REAS course focused on the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-recognised assessment tool for undertaking ergonomics assessments effectively and efficiently. It also taught participants how to best perform a remote ergonomics assessment using a format of:

  1. Survey / interview
  2. Observation / Measurement
  3. Assessment
  4. Report

This format helps to ensure that the ergonomics assessor is fully informed about the employee’s working situation in advance of the virtual assessment, enabling them to provide the most relevant advice.

Jess has several years of experience in supporting clients with DSE assessments. She is a certified DSE assessor, and Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist Level 1.

The Back School assessor’s feedback on Jess’ sample ergonomics assessment reports included the following comments:

" The ergonomics assessment reports that you submitted are excellent. They provided well detailed information regarding the specific ergonomics issues and possible solutions. I was especially impressed with your chart for the Risk Factor, Solution and Product information inserted in your reports. Congratulations on your REAS certification and on a most excellent job."
