Delta-Simons Aquathon

The first Delta-Simons Aquathon of the year kicked off on Wednesday 16th May, and it saw a record turnout with 107 keen athletes taking part in the event, despite the chilly weather!

This year sees the Aquathon partnered by the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) to provide a fully accredited Open Water Aquathon series that will also be registered Go-Tri events, one of very few such events that take part in open water in the UK.

The Aquathon is held throughout the summer in association with 100% Swimming at Activities Away in South Hykeham, Lincolnshire.  Delta-Simons provides water quality testing for the quarter mile long former gravel pit at Activities Away, a multi activity centre which also hosts canoeing, paddle boarding, jet skiing and power boating.  The water quality is measured against current bathing water regulations and achieves the top rating of Excellent.

The events are split into three age groups:

  • Juniors 9-10 years: 200m swim / 1,000m run
  • Juniors 11-15 years: 200m swim / 2,000m run
  • Adult 16+: 800m swim / 3,000m run

Paul Fowler, organiser of the event and Head Coach with 100% Swimming, says, “We are proud to have Delta-Simons as our series sponsor. Not only do Delta-Simons care about the environment nationally and globally, importantly for us they really get involved at a local level too. Based in Lincoln, Delta-Simons provide us with a comprehensive water testing protocol which ensure we all swim in clean water, they also make superb events like this possible because they support the community within the environment as well!”.

Other dates for the Aquathon are 13th June, 18th July, 15th August, 5th September.  Register on the night, or online before the event at: http://onehundredpercentswimming.co.uk/shop/.  For all Aquathon enquiries, contact Paul Fowler on 07572 013811.
