Charity

Since Delta-Simons was acquired by the Lucion Group in April 2021, our position as one of the industry leaders in environmental management and hazardous materials has gone from strength to strength. As a group we now serve over 1500 clients across 20 different industries. During our growth, we continue to act with social impact at the heart of our decision making, with the aim of building long lasting, sustainable relationships with our community and clients.

Over the past 12 months, Delta-Simons and Lucion Services have raised a total of £6498 for Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK). On the 6th March 2022, 25 members of the Lucion Group community will be participating in the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon with the aim of collectively raising vital funds for our chosen charity partner ARUK- an incredible charity that is working to reduce the effects of dementia through research.

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK)

Founded in 1992, ARUK is the UK's leading dementia research charity with 15 centres of research excellence throughout the UK, supporting hundreds of scientists, dedicated to researching causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and cure of dementia. They are on a mission to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025 with a vision of a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.

Our charity partner, ARUK, was selected based on personal links to our people within the business and their alignment with our own mission to protect people and planet. Our community at the Lucion Group has a responsibility to foster positive social and environmental progress. An integral part of this is supporting local community events, which includes our three-year commitment to the Cambridge Half Marathon as sustainability partner.

Our partnership with the Cambridge Half Marathon

Our three-year commitment to the Cambridge Half Marathon is in partnership with OSB Events - the organiser and promoter of the event in Cambridge as the Sustainability Partner and as a specialist environmental consultant, to develop an Environment and Social Governance (ESG) Strategy for the high-profile sporting event.

Our role as sustainability partner is to ensure that the event continues to include the highest possible ESG standards set out in the ESG policy and makes a positive contribution to Cambridge and the wider environment.

As part of the partnership, we are supporting a number of initiatives which includes, working with Greater Cambridge Waste and the City Council Street care Team to ensure a closed loop recycling scheme for the plastic cups at the event, installing clothing bins on Midsummer Common to donate leftover clothing items to charity, and providing reusable goodie bags to reduce the event’s carbon footprint.

TTP Cambridge Half Marathon has strong ESG aspirations for the future that we are proud to be part of. Priorities include greener transport options and local community development schemes. Working collaboratively on a ESG consultancy led basis to ensure the event encourages partners and participants to position sustainability at the forefront of their choices.

Alex Ferguson, Managing Director of Delta-Simons and Inogen Alliance Board Member commented;

“This is the second year that Delta-Simons and Lucion Services will come together to support ARUK during the Cambridge Half Marathon. Our community in the Lucion Group are acutely aware that what we do as an organisation truly matters. I am delighted that we’re the Sustainability Partner for the Cambridge Half Marathon.

A number of the team have sadly been personally impacted by Alzheimer’s or other age related diseases, so the work of our chosen charity partner ARUK for this event is a cause close to all of our hearts.”

Adam Moffat, Direct at OSB Events commented on the continued sustainability partnership with Delta-Simons;

“After the success of our 2021 event series, we are excited to keep working with Delta-Simons as our Sustainability Partner for the Cambridge Half Marathon whilst also supporting the growth of our Outlaw Triathlon Series.

With the support of Delta-Simons we have committed to fully analysing the environmental impact of all our events. Making use of the ESG Policy to set and achieve manageable goals.

We are delighted yet again to welcome such a strong group of Delta-Simons & Lucion employees to raise money for an important charity for them.”

Lucion Group’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Strategy

Since the acquisition in April 2021 by the Lucion Group, the focus and  Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) goals have come front and centre to our operations.

Hazel Gillings, Lucion Group’s ESG Lead has been undertaking benchmarking assessments and materiality assessments for the business showing us our strengths, positive impact areas, and opportunities for improvement. Our ESG goals for 2022 and beyond are;

  1. to establish year on year improvement of ESG in order to become a more sustainable business; and,
  2. to make a positive impact (socially and environmentally) beyond our standard business activities

The Lucion Group community recognises the benefits of fundraising for charities close to our hearts, and the positive impact of giving back to the communities we work in.

Avid runner Eloise Bull, ESG and ETS Graduate at Delta-Simons, took part in the Cambridge Half Marathon last year, her first ever official race. Eloise commented on this years run;

“This year I’m looking forward to participating for the second time in the Cambridge Half Marathon with my Delta-Simons and Lucion colleagues. Having been involved in the organisation and full training plan this year, I’ve had a unique insight into some of the work that goes into an event like this, and I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together on the day.

Overall, it is just a lovely excuse to spend the day in a beautiful city with some lovely people for a good cause.”
