Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Regulatory Compliance Audits

Contract Overview

Delta-Simons is a multidisciplinary environmental, health and safety consultancy providing trusted training services to clients both national and globally.

Our Environmental Health and Safety team was appointed by a global cosmetics manufacturer to undertake comprehensive EHS Regulatory Compliance Audits on two of their manufacturing and distribution sites in England. Our team supported the client by assessing both sites’ environmental health and safety controls against relevant legislation and best practice in the UK, identifying best practice and opportunities for improvement. We also identified opportunities for the client to align their EHS management system more consistently between sites with the overall benefit of improving the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, and reducing environmental impacts and risks.

An audit report was produced for each site which identified best practices and compliance gaps explaining which actions were required and why. As a result the client requested additional ad-hoc support in addressing these actions and we worked collaboratively with their team to resolve these issues.

Contract Challenges

Our Client recently restructured their EHS management team and wanted to understand their current EHS position from an external perspective. This coupled with the everchanging nature and complexity of EHS legislation meant that the client required the audits within a short timeframe.

Due to the broad nature of their operations including the manufacturing, packaging and global distribution of cosmetic products such a makeup, perfume and skincare items, a wide range of hazards were presented and there was a large quantity of EHS legislation applicable. It was especially important for the client to understand how to prioritise any actions identified and why. Our team provided a prioritisation classification for each action in relation to the EHS risk level with an explanation and justification.

Our Solution

Following each site audit, a virtual closing meeting was held with the client’s global EHS department where our team explained the key findings of the audit. Photographs and data from each site were shared providing an opportunity for their global EHS team to ask questions.

Our team then produced a standardised concise report and action plan for each site following an efficient collection of site data. The project was delivered in a timely manner and our team worked alongside the client to support them in addressing the issues identified. We received positive feedback from the client as they were able to improve their overall EHS performance and align their management system more consistently between sites.
