Joshua Rigby is an Associate with over 10 years’ experience in environmental consultancy and is the Team Leader for the Water Services business stream. Josh is a flood risk and drainage technical specialist and project manager and has delivered numerous complex flood risk management and drainage projects across the UK. Josh has undertaken and led the delivery of many detailed Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Flood Consequences Assessments (FCA), Drainage Strategies, Surface Water Management Plans, Flood Management Plans, culvert studies and due diligence projects for a range of high-profile public and private clients.
Josh is responsible for the technical review and authorisation of flood risk and drainage strategy reports prepared by the business and has significant experience in tender proposals, project management, optioneering, policy appraisal and reporting.
André joined Delta-Simons in May 2019 to head up the new South West regional office based in Bristol. André has over 25 years’ extensive technical and management experience working within the ground engineering sector in the South, Midlands and South West of England. In his early career, he was a civil & structural engineer, has spent six recent years servicing the ground engineering requirements of civil & structural engineering teams and has spent the last 18 years heading ground engineering teams.
André has a vast range of experience including development of an open-cast coal mining site, quarry infilling, redevelopment upon infilled pits and landfill, asbestos-in-soils advice, remediation and validation, detailed design of gas protection measures, Material Management Plans and maximising soil reuse, cut/fill advice, earthworks specifications, cemetery sites, coal mining risk assessments and investigations, foul drainage field design, construction over solution features & fault lines, slope stability, reinforced earth design, lime/cement stabilisation, Vibro-improvement of ground (concrete and stone piles), and piling/crane mat design. His project experience includes a variety of multi-discipline projects which include assisting clients through the entire planning system process with residential and commercial/retail developments (up to 1900 units), public sector (councils & schools), leisure industry, healthcare, iand rail, road & airport infrastructure. He has also undertaken due-diligence work and some expert witness work.
Rachel joined Delta-Simons Manchester regional team in November 2016, bringing 10 years' of geo-environmental industry knowledge, along with a range of experience on geotechnical site investigations across the UK. Rachel’s experience includes project management, feasibility studies, geological interpretation, coal mining risk assessments, brine risk assessments, foundation assessments, earthworks, ground improvement, concrete classification and road pavement design for a variety of residential, commercial, industrial schemes and large infrastructure projects. Rachel identifies ground related geotechnical risks and provides pre-acquisition and divestment advice to clients, including possible abnormal ground related geotechnical costs.
Jim Clifford is an experienced EHS professional working in the risk management arena for over 19 years, considered by clients and colleagues to possess significant EHS knowledge, skills and experience and able to provide pragmatic solutions.
Jim has undertaken compliance assessments and audits, accident investigations, implemented management systems and assessed contractor performance across a range of major industry sectors including high hazard chemicals, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, food and drink, transport, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, as well as work offshore with the oil and gas industry. He is an excellent communicator from employee to board, advising duty holders at all levels how to manage and control risks effectively.
Michael is a Chartered Environmentalist with over 18 years’ experience as a Project Manager and technical Lead EIA Specialist for multi-discipline engineering and environmental-planning projects across the transport, energy, buildings, industrial and water sectors. His experience includes delivery of route corridor studies, options appraisals, specialist environmental studies and statutory Environmental Impact Assessments in support of consent applications (Town & Country Planning, DCOs for NSIPs and Hybrid Bills). He is also competent in facilitating external stakeholder engagement, including achieving mutual resolutions on contentious projects.
Michael seeks to understand client end-use needs and applies his understanding of the complex interconnectivity of project delivery to foresee and manage environmental-planning risks and solutions / opportunities for management of existing estates, site expansion plans or new developments. Michael works collaboratively with clients and designers, raising awareness of project delivery risks early in order to proactively tailor project scopes, programmes and designs to manage potential risks, often delivering adding value in the process.
Simon Joined Delta-Simons in early 2017 with significant experience gained working in a diverse range of sectors in the town planning field over the past 11 years. He has managed multidisciplinary teams and delivered projects for private developers, co-professionals and public sector clients throughout a wide range of industry sectors.
His key experience includes managing major and complex planning applications, advising on site feasibility, leading on technical environmental planning matters along with preparing, reviewing and submitting Environmental Statements (EIA), sub EIA documents (including screening letters and scoping reports).
Simon has project managed planning appeals for the public sector, appeared as an expert witness at public inquiries on environmentally technical issues and presented to planning committees at Local Planning Authorities.
Sue Charlton is a Principal Ecologist with Delta-Simons Environmental Consultants Ltd. She has wide-ranging experience in the private, public and voluntary sectors having started her career in conservation restoring and managing habitats on various scales. Within consultancy she has delivered technical reports, Environmental Statement chapters, Habitat Regulations Assessments and protected species mitigation under licence, as well as giving direction on a wide variety of multidisciplinary development projects.
Sue has an excellent working knowledge of UK and European nature conservation and planning legislation, policy and guidance. She holds Natural England survey licenses for great crested newts and bats, and a bat roost visitor’s license. She has also held numerous derogation licenses for bats.
Alex Houldsworth is a Principal Consultant at Delta-Simons Environmental Consultants Ltd with over eight years’ experience in environmental consultancy, specialising in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Due Diligence. She has experience of project managing due diligence of both large and small property and corporate transactions from all sides of the deal including acquisitions, divestment and refinancing. Alex has been involved in projects across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, chemical, pharmaceutical, aviation, food and drink, automotive, construction and commercial and has experience working on due diligence projects in the UK, Europe, Russia, India and China.
Based in the London regional office, Alex joined Delta-Simons in 2018, and her key skills lie in project and programme management, understanding the practical application of UK and EU EHS legislation and being able to differentiate between minor and material EHS risks to clients.
Sabine joined Delta-Simons Manchester regional team in July 2016, bringing nine years of geo-environmental knowledge, along with a range of experience on environmental and geo-environmental site investigations across the UK. Sabine’s project experience includes working towards the discharge of contaminated land planning conditions associated with residential housing estates, high-rise apartments, commercial, industrial, public buildings, refurbishments and change of use. Sabine has good experience in detailed quantitative risk assessments, environmental permitting and baseline conditions, coal mining, brine pumping, waste classification, acquisition and divestment due diligence.
Rob joined Delta-Simons as EHS&S Unit Director in 2019 bringing 14 years' of energy and sustainability experience, with specific focus on energy auditing, carbon reporting and thermal modelling/building physics.
Rob has provided solutions to clients across new build construction, property, retail, leisure and industrial sectors, and has helped hundreds of businesses to meet a range of challenging legislative compliance needs.
Rob is an accredited ESOS Lead Assessor, holds qualifications/accreditations in relation to Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC), TM44 Air Conditioning Inspections, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and has a strong background in Mechanical Building Services design.
Alex Perryman joined Delta-SImons as an Associate in 2018, bringing with him over 15 years’ experience in the water industry and geospatial arena. Alex is a flood risk technical specialist and project manager, and has delivered numerous complex flood risk management projects including multimillion pound megaprojects in the Middle East. Alex has undertaken and led the delivery of numerous detailed Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Surface Water Management Plans, Water Cycle Studies, Catchment and Flood Warning Management Plans, culvert studies and due diligence projects for a range of high profile public and private clients.
Alex leads the completion of the flood risk elements of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) including hydrology, hydraulic modelling, drainage and culvert assessments (baseline and developed cases) and has vast experience in complex flood risk analysis and mentoring junior staff.
Paul Burns joined Delta-Simons as a Social Sustainability Consultant; an experienced, conscientious and well organised environmentalist, he understands and works through challenges to achieve Environmental and Social Responsibility programmes which offer stability and sustainability. Paul has achieved a portfolio of successes in complex Public and Private sector organisations. Paul has gained significant experience working with senior personnel from the NHS on reducing their Non Elective Re-admissions agenda and with Government agencies on tackling their Fuel Poverty agendas. A strong project manager throughout the analysis, design and implementation stages.
Elizabeth joined the West Midlands region of Delta-Simons in 2018, bringing 12 years’ experience in environmental consultancy. Her experience comprises of aspects relating to contaminated land and geotechnical site investigation, focusing primarily on contaminated land assessment for a variety of different client sectors. Elizabeth is responsible for the management of projects ranging from desk studies, EIA and data collection through intrusive ground/site investigation and design to data interpretation, including Quantitative Risk Assessment, appraising potential development constraints and remedial validation.
Elizabeth has undertaken site investigation works on numerous greenfield sites and brownfield sites associated with a range of former industrial uses including gas works, former railway land, landfill sites, chemical works, operational industrial facilities and National Grid sites.
Catherine joined Delta-Simons in 2018, and has been working in EHS roles in industry, consultancy and local government for the past 14 years. She has spent the last five years working at an automotive manufacturing plant where she initially led the Environmental department, and most recently headed up the Health & Safety team.
Prior to this, Catherine worked as an environmental consultant specialising in management systems, compliance and waste management for a variety of sectors. She also spent 18 months seconded to an LNG plant in South Wales where she project-managed the implementation of the onsite lab which determined the quality of the gas being brought in from Qatar.
Catherine is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Waste Management (MCIWM). She currently holds a NEBOSH General Certificate for Occupational Health and Safety.
Gabor has over 10 years' experience in the areas of ambient air quality monitoring, dispersion modelling, data collation, and interpretation, environmental permit application and project management. Detailed knowledge of the application of UK National and European Environmental legislation with regards to Environmental Permitting/Industrial Emissions Directive, in particular its application in the UK.
Gabor has extensive knowledge of key air pollution policy, with clear understanding of air quality assessment methods for environmental impact assessments. He also has significant experience in air dispersion modelling of road vehicle and industrial emissions and expertise in preparation of factual and interpretative Air Quality Assessment (AQA) reports and Air Quality Environmental Statement chapters.
Gabor has provided technical support and air quality lead for a range of planning and environmental permit applications including residential developments, road schemes and industrial processes.
Pete has over 20 years’ of experience as an ecological and aboriculturist consultant. He has extensive experience of protected species surveying and reporting, habitat management, creation and regeneration works. His current role involves planning surveys, survey team management, preparing and undertaking mitigation schemes for protected species; Pete also heads up our arboriculture service. He has undertaken the role of Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) for large infrastructure and residential development projects.
Peter is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environment (CIEEM). He holds Natural England and Natural Resources Wales Great Crested Newt (GCN) survey licenses and Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage Bat survey licenses. He has been an accredited agent on numerous derogation licenses for bats, badgers and great crested newts.
Chris joined Delta-Simons in 2018 and brings over twenty years’ experience focusing on ground risk, working across a range of sectors including Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals; Oil and Gas, Mining, Property Development and Finance.
Having worked for a variety of UK-based and International consultancies, Chris has specific experience in characterisation and remediation of complex sites, including operational chemical works, former gasworks, and power infrastructure projects, provision of strategic advice on ground risk to large scale schemes including coal mining legacy issues, managing commercial issues around transactions and investment with respect to ground conditions as well as supporting schemes through the planning process, including EIA scale developments and the technical requirements of such support.
Graham joined Delta-Simons as Associate Director within the Transaction Support team in 2017, bringing with him 15 years’ of environmental experience, specifically in the management and delivery of single and multi-site real estate and M&A projects. Graham is a Chartered Environmentalist and has significant experience within environmental due diligence, environmental permitting and environmental impact assessments.
Graham’s role within the company is to strengthen the existing M&A capabilities of the Transaction Support team, support our existing clients and identify opportunities within the real estate and M&A sector.
Charlotte joined us in 2018, bringing 12 years' experience in delivering focused operational environmental, health & safety compliance assurance to the financial, construction and manufacturing sectors across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Charlotte specialises in Project Management & Tender Preparation, Environmental Health & Safety Compliance, DSE Workstation Assessments, Environmental Permitting, Environmental Management Systems implementation and support, Waste Management and Minimisation.
David joined the company in 2018, having spent 15 years' as a Contaminated Land Adviser with a Local Authority. David's specialisms are identifying potentially contaminated sites and subsequent remediation, as well as brownfield site regulation through the planning process.
David is a Prince 2 Project Management Practitioner, SoBRA Executive Committee Member and a Member of the Defra Contaminated Land Expert Panel.
Hellen joined Delta-Simons in 2017, bringing over 20 years’ of geo-environmental experience to the company. Hellen started her career in marine geophysics before moving into engineering, subsequently working within consultancies providing multidisciplinary geotechnical and environmental support.
Hellen is responsible for project delivery and client development within the south region.
Sinéad brings 15 years' experience to the Delta-Simons geo-environmental team; based in the London office, Sinéad specialises in geotechnics. Having completed an MSc in Engineering Geology at Newcastle University, Sinéad's experience has been developed through a wide range of site investigation and geotechnical design projects within both public and private sectors.
Sinéad has supported multidisciplinary teams on contract management, designing and managing a range of site investigations, undertaking geotechnical design and assessment including quay wall stability analysis, foundation design, slope stability analysis, interpretive reporting and input in detailed geotechnical design for highways construction.
Sinéad also has experience of offshore renewables projects which involved scheduling geotechnical and geophysical surveys for structure and pipeline/cable installation for numerous Tender and FEED projects; interpreting survey data to prepare ground models for design, as well as identifying key risks and potential hazards to structure and pipeline design and installation; undertaking geotechnical design for numerous sub-sea structures, as well as pipe-soil interaction, liquefaction, scouring, ploughability/trenching assessments.
Mike is an Associate in our Durham regional office, having joined in 2016. An Environmental Consultant with 20 years’ multidisciplinary experience in the UK contaminated land and waste management industries, Mike has extensive project, financial and site management expertise, having worked on numerous brownfield and landfill development schemes.
Rebecca joined the company in 2007 as Project Coordinator, and is now HR & Business Support Manager. Rebecca is also a member of the Executive team.
Rosanna Webb is EHS Divisional Director for Delta-Simons. Having previously worked at Symantec, Veritas and WSP Environmental, Rosanna is a highly motivated Safety, Health and Environmental leader with over 20 years’ experience. Rosanna has gained a thorough understanding of complex EHS regulations and its cultural landscape worldwide. Rosanna has extensive experience within the IT, construction, banking, retail and consulting sectors. She is a strategic thinker focused on the business needs and the added value that well-managed EHS programs can deliver.
Since joining Delta-Simons in 2011, Dan has delivered an extensive range of sustainability projects. He has significant experience of carbon footprinting products and businesses to recognised international standards. He has delivered the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and ESOS energy audits within the construction, transport, technology, hospital and charitable sectors – helping clients to achieve regulatory compliance.
Dan also has a NEBOSH qualification and specialises in linking energy efficiency with health and safety. He supports clients to assess the full financial and environmental impact of energy-efficiency measures, whilst improving employee comfort, productivity and wellbeing.
Simon is a Divisional Director and looks after the London office and region, having joined in 2015 after 14 years leading teams within a large global environmental consultancy. Simon's primary areas include due diligence, contaminated land, human health and controlled waters risk assessment, remediation and project management. He has an established track record in the successful delivery of large scale, complex environmental assessment work as part of multidisciplinary teams including soil, groundwater, soil vapour, indoor/outdoor air investigations, expert witness work, asbestos in soils and environmental forensics.
Simon has provided environmental support as well as led assessments on a significant number of transactions including property in the UK and across Europe, and rapid assessment programmes for portfolios of non-performing loans. His development-related experience has ranged from small scale through to some of the more significant residential and commercial schemes in the UK, with two of his projects winning Brownfield Briefing Awards in 2014. Simon has also led site closure projects including the demolition of over 200 buildings, and the design and implementation of major remediation and earthworks programmes.
Simon is passionate about the projects he gets involved in and combines his technical knowledge with a strong commercial approach to assess environmental challenges, and develop effective and economic solutions for Delta-Simons clients.

Tom joined Delta-Simons in July 2013, having gained over 10 years' previous experience working in the UK geo-environmental sector. Tom is a commercially focused consultant, having undertaken numerous due diligence and asset management assessments for a range of well-known multi-national organisations.
Tom has also gained significant experience in the retail, industrial and residential property sectors, and regularly provides expert advice relating to a range of greenfield and brownfield land challenges, including remediation requirements, shallow coal mining risks and waste classification matters.
Tim joined the Norwich office in 2010 and is now responsible for growing the East Anglia regional business unit.
Tim brings with him over 10 years' experience in the geoenvironmental field, particularly in East Anglia, and has led a number of prominent projects in the region including working as resident engineer. Tim has specialist expertise in geotechnical site investigations, Phase I and II environmental and geo-environmental assessments, and the management of remediation projects.
Simon Steele is a Principal Geoenvironmental Consultant and Team Leader at Delta-Simons. Simon has over 10 years' experience working on a variety of multi-discipline projects for a number of UK based clients across both commercial and residential developments. Simon also has extensive experience in team management, preparation of proposals, project planning, sub-contractor management, geotechnical assessments and data assessment.
Simon Brown is highly experienced in due diligence and asset management services, with focus in the commercial/industrial sector and has advised on projects all over the world for a variety of top-level clients.
An Environmental Consultant with over 25 years experience, Simon has worked at a variety of private sector consultancies, including the privatised Scientific Branch of the Greater London Council, Wimpey Environmental, Ernest Greens (now White Young Green), WSP, Capita, BWB Consulting and Delta-Simons in its former life as a joint venture between Delta's and Simon's.
Simon and his team are responsible for delivering solutions to ground risk problems for clients involved with due diligence, property transaction, asset management and the Mergers & Acquisitions Market on a national and international basis.

Roger is member of the Delta-Simons Executive team and has been with the company since 1996. Roger has broad experience of brownfield evaluation having worked with many institutional investment funds and national property developers. Roger currently provides technical support to the national project teams with particular expertise in carbon and sustainability. Roger is accountable for maintaining Delta-Simons ISO9001 accreditation, and directing the implementation and management of the Quality Management System.

Richard is Unit Director for the northern regions, and has over 18 years' consultancy experience in contaminated land, remediation and environmental due diligence. Richard is responsible for leading the Delta-Simons Geo-environmental operations team in Manchester, Leeds and Durham, providing contaminated land, geotechnical and environmental due diligence services and support to a growing client base.
Paul joined Delta-Simons as an Environmental Scientist in May 2007, and is now Geo-environmental Associate and Team Leader for the Midlands region. Over his 11 years with the company Paul has gained his experience in environmental and geotechnical site investigations in the UK, Ireland and Europe for commercial, industrial and residential land uses.
Paul joined Delta-Simons in 1996 as an Environmental Scientist and has progressed through the company to Unit Director of the Midlands region (Lincoln, Nottingham and Birmingham regional offices). Paul has vast experience in brownfield site assessment in the UK and Ireland including feasibility, planning, designing and managing multi-disciplinary projects on commercial, industrial and residential landuses.
Mike joined Delta Simons at the beginning of 2015 to lead the Geoenvironmental team in the newly established Leeds office. Mike brings with him nine years' experience working within the geo-environmental sector in the North, as well as a range of experience on investigations and environmental assessments across the UK. His project experience includes former gas works, collieries, chemical facilities, petroleum storage facilities, ports, industrial premises, Part 2A as well as greenfield sites.
Kelvin is a chartered geologist and SiLC, and has 26 years of experience providing client focused solutions to resolve environmental challenges. Kelvin has extensive experience in due diligence and compliance auditing, environmental planning and assessment and redevelopment of land subjected to contaminative use within the property development, manufacturing, chemical, oil and gas and public sectors.
John joined Delta-Simons in 2008, and has since been involved in a range of Phase I and Phase II site investigations in the UK, Ireland and Europe, producing reports and risk assessments for planning applications, environmental statements and pre-acquisition assessments, overseeing remediation works and undertaking groundwater and gas monitoring.
Since joining Delta-Simons, Jayne has specialised in environmental assessment by undertaking risk assessments for contaminated land for both due diligence (including portfolios) and development purposes. With over 15 years' experience within the environmental sector, Jayne specialises in providing budget costs associated with ground risks for development sites, as well as feasibility assessments for developments that cover ground risk, ecology and flood risk issues.
Gary is the Delta-Simons Drilling Unit Manager. Gary joined Delta-Simons in 2006 and has broad experience using a range of drilling rigs and investigation techniques for both environmental and geotechnical purposes. Gary has experience of land drilling on challenging contaminated sites on both hard and soft rock.
Joining Delta-Simons towards the end of 2013 as a Project Manager, Dan brings more than 14 years' of experience dealing with contaminated land remediation, geotechnical, environmental due diligence and development led projects.
Since joining Delta-Simons in 2006 Chris has worked with many national and multinational customers and has delivered projects for global clients through the Inogen Environmental Alliance. Chris has particular expertise in EHS compliance, environmental management systems and environmental due diligence. He also leads the delivery of energy auditing services and bulk energy procurement.
Charlotte leads the Ecology department at Delta-Simons and has broad experience in the field, having worked on a wide range of development projects including road schemes, waste incinerator sites, coastal defence schemes and residential, commercial and industrial property.
Since joining Delta-Simons, Charlotte has managed complex biodiversity projects including a number of multi-species survey programmes, and is responsible for the planning and undertaking of field studies, impact assessments and mitigation for bats, great crested newts, badgers, water voles, otters and reptiles.
Charlotte is also qualified to complete works under the Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL) and the Great Crested Newt Low Impact Class Licence (GCN LICL).
Joining Delta-Simons in 2014 as Environmental Planning Unit Director and subsequently becoming Techical Director, Ali brings over 15 years hands-on experience in environmental consultancy to the company. Ali has worked in a multitude of differing roles within the sector including appointments as an environmental audit co-ordinator, contaminated land consultant, and auditing and technical team manager.
Having gained several years' experience managing large project teams and working with client/design teams to deliver complex EIA and planning reports for major applications, Ali has worked across multiple sectors including energy and waste, linear civil projects, food and drink, and commercial & residential.
Having also worked on client side for a low carbon developer, Ali also brings significant appreciation for early stage input and recognition of key development constraints, as well as commercial solutions and alternative options.
Alan is a Unit Director and leads the Transaction Support team. Working in the property sector for 22 years, Alan's main areas of expertise are in contaminated land assessment within the Real Estate Investments and M&A sectors; advising developers, owner/occupiers and institutional investors on a range of environmental due diligence subjects, including contaminated land liabilities, flood risk, EHS compliance, energy and sustainability.
Alan also advises multinational clients on real estate and M&A projects outside the UK, partnering with our Inogen® Associates.
Damian is an Executive Director and an experienced projects director having delivered numerous multi-jurisdictional EHS, sustainability and real estate due diligence projects over a career spanning 18 years. He has worked with leading blue chip industrial and manufacturing, logistics, financial and real estate investment clients providing support on environmental risk quantification and management strategies, as well as business resilience and future proofing initiatives to protect client assets. He was part of the senior management team of a global environmental consultancy that won Acquisition Monthly's Environmental Advisor of the Year award, three years out of five.
Damian has a strong passion for effective CRM, strategic business planning and new market entry and positioning initiatives, which he refined during a period with a leading international marine civils contractor. He has a demonstrable track record of building profitable, energetic and highly successful teams that adopt a client-centric, commercial approach to delivering effective consultancy and the creation of long-term business partnerships built on trust.
Alex is Managing Director and a member of the Executive team at Delta-Simons, with accountability for delivering multidisciplinary solutions to UK and international developers. He has been involved at the highest level with most of Delta-Simons key customers since joining in 2001. In this time he has gained extensive experience and knowledge of a wide range of property acquisition, development and divestiture projects.
