Our Environmental Health and Safety team was appointed by our Client, a UK Restaurant chain, to conduct Fire Risk assessments at three of their restaurants. Fire risk assessments were needed to identify any potential fire hazards, identify people at risk and evaluate remove or reduce the risks identified. Our talented EHS team supported our client throughout the risk assessments by providing regular updates, especially if urgent situations were encountered that needed rectifying promptly. Findings were recorded and an emergency plan was prepared.
Contract Challenges
Site visits were conducted during daytime hours when the restaurants were fully operational, therefore extra diligence was taken to conduct the site assessment and interviews of the duty managers, with as little impact on the day-to-day operations as possible. Some assessments were undertaken on busy seating areas and kitchens, where employee and customer traffic was high.
It was understood that one of the restaurants had been the subject of an arson attack by a member of the public in the past, therefore a review of the bin store area was also undertaken to reduce any future risks by ensuring that the bins are lockable and stored within a locked compound that members of the public cannot access.
Our Solution
Our EHS team were clear and concise in obtaining the relevant information from the Client.
Whilst on Site, a standardised form was used to help with the efficient collection of data, and photographs were taken which enabled the auditor to limit the impact on services at the time of the assessment, as well as to be included within the final report. The completed fire risk assessment included an evaluation of any significant fire risk identified onsite. It included an action plan to enable the site to reduce the level of risk further.
