According to research conducted by Loughborough University, large scale operators have the opportunity to become leaders in the development of good occupational health, safety and environmental sustainability practices within their industries. Influencers have the ability to drive good practice throughout the supply chain, using the ‘trickle down’ effect and can work collaboratively in promoting the implementation of cohesive and effective Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Management Systems for the benefit of both organisations and the individuals within them.

Lead researcher Dr Wendy Jones, School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE), commented in OS&H Journal article, stating that:

“Major projects have an important role to play in setting high expectations of their contractors in relation to health management and supporting them to reach these. This can help drive improvements through the sector”.

Events such as the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Show provide a platform of communication, ensuring that best practices, thought leadership, and new technologies are shared across the industry to influence change, emphasising the need for organisations to focus on SHE as a priority, and not as a tick box exercise.

Delta-Simons considers very carefully the events and organisations that we support and put our name to. The SHE show’s emphasis on making positive changes to people, behaviour and culture in the industry is an objective we support and share.

About the Safety, Health and Environment Show

Attracting around 250 delegates to each annual event, including Senior SHE Managers, Heads of SHE and SHE Directors from cross-sectoral industries, the SHE Show is a key date in any forward-thinking organisation looking to embed and/or develop health and safety within their culture.

Looking beyond health and safety, the Safety, Health and Environment Show looks to cover 6 key elements that focus on people, behaviour and culture change, including;

  • Overcoming Adversity and Resilience
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Behaviour and Culture Change
  • Climate Change and Sustainability
  • Inspirational Leadership
  • Legal Advice and Updates

As an established multi-disciplinary environmental, health and safety consultancy providing trusted advice and solutions for sustainable development, Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability Unit Director Rob Molyneaux and Delta-Simons’ Senior EHS&S Consultant Jess Beckwith, ESG Consultant Katie Batchelor, and EHS Consultant Jonathan Teale will be exhibiting (stand 17) at this year’s North East SHE show on the 26th April 2022 at Newcastle United’s Football Stadium, St James’ Park.

About Rob Molyneux

With 18 years’ operational experience in the energy and sustainability field, primarily in energy and carbon for the built environment and corporate sustainability.

With clear challenges in front of business in relation to climate change, carbon emissions and sustainability, it is an exciting time to be in this sector with the ability to help organisations to understand and mitigate the risks – and to grasp the opportunities – we face as a result of climate change impacts on our businesses.

Rob commented on this year’s upcoming event saying;

Firstly I’m excited to be back out able to make some new connections and have first hand conversations with new people again, after too long away from it. Our attendance at this event isn’t simply about meeting buyers but also provides us with an invaluable opportunity to find out the real life challenges our potential clients are facing, and understand how we can support them to make a positive impact on our environment and our people.
